The Audio and Language Content team is seeking two experienced digital content producers for our language team. High proficiency in both English and Sinhala is essential, along with demonstrable success in sourcing and producing original stories and audio-visual digital content of interest to the Sinhala-speaking communities in Australia.
About the role
Reporting to the SBS Sinhala Executive Producer and working with a Digital Content Editor and other producers in the team, the role is to develop and deliver multimedia content for the Sinhala program online and on social; explore audio or video production for digital platforms; coordinate and help oversee the digital content production of the team.
The role is part-time (offering 28 hours / week) and based out of North Sydney or Melbourne CBD.
Reporting into the Sinhala Executive Producer, this role will see you doing the following:
- Source leads and produce regular online content generating traffic to meet KPIs.
- To plan and manage digital content campaigns for key community events.
- Generate, develop and foster content ideas within the team for the relevant platform and the Sinhala-speaking audience.
- Help drive and deliver the SBS Sinhala Digital Media Content strategy.
- Work closely with the other Digital Content Producers on the team.
- Produce multimedia content, including live videos, podcasts and interactive digital online content using a variety of 3rd party apps.
It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are fully vaccinated with an approved Covid-19 vaccination in line with the ATAGI guidelines which include booster shots. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.
About you:
We are looking for someone with advanced editorial skills and experience in a digital journalism/production role. You will have a demonstrated track record of producing original stories about the Sinhala-speaking audience in Australia and be able to produce digital stories within tight deadlines.
More specifically, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in digital journalism/production, including the production and presentation of mult-iplatform content (video, online, social media, audio) and the ability to compile and subedit news, sport and current affairs from a variety of sources.
- A rich understanding of the Sinhala and Sinhala-speaking communities living in Australia.
- Digital content production skills using tools like various web, desktop and mobile apps to produce highly engaging digital multi-platform content in the Sinhala language and an in-depth knowledge of SEO.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and problem-solving on the go.
- Demonstrated ability to be a star collaborator and maintain productive relationships with colleagues and various stakeholders, including members of the Sinhala-speaking communities in Australia.
- Candidates must have full working Australian rights and be based within Sydney or Melbourne.
(Candidates must undergo a language assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in Sinhala).
