We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of HPE, Sport and Activities to lead and grow our Sports and Activities Program in our Junior School team, commencing in January 2025 on a full-time basis.
Your role:
As the Head of HPE, Sport and Activities (P-6), you will have a reduced teaching load and will be responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive and high-quality sport and activities program within the Junior School. Working in collaboration with the Director of Sport and Activities, you will coordinate work programs, assessment, moderation processes, and pedagogical practices related to Health and Physical Education for students from Prep to Year 6. This position will also oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the Junior School, including, but not limited to, the Junior TAS competition.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate the P-6 Health and Physical Education curriculum, including the planning and oversight of assessment, moderation, and reporting processes, in collaboration with the Director of Sport and Activities.
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of sports fixtures, events, and tours, ensuring effective management of facilities and equipment.
- Develop and update training policies and programs in collaboration with relevant staff members.
- Manage the inspection, maintenance, and procurement of all sports and activities equipment, working closely with Coordinators, coaches, and the Director of Sport and Activities.
- Set, model, and monitor clear behavioral expectations for students, staff, coaches, and parents in alignment with the school's Mission and Values.
- Ensure adherence to all Risk Management, WHS, and Student Welfare policies and processes within all sports and activities.
- Build strong, professional relationships with parents, staff, coaches, and the broader community.
- Foster an inclusive and positive sporting culture that promotes teamwork, discipline, and personal growth for students.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering high-quality sports programs and activities that cater to a wide range of abilities and interests.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a school or sporting environment, including experience in developing, managing, and implementing sports programs.
- A genuine passion for fostering student growth, well-being, and personal development through sports.
- Willingness to embrace new ideas and technologies to enhance student engagement and participation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Proven ability to conduct oneself in a way which develops personal respect, respect for the College and the teaching profession.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with a focus on continuous improvement and student success.
Essential Qualifications:
- Current Queensland College of Teacher Registration.
- Relevant qualification in Sports Management, or a related field highly preferred.
